I know I'm a day late. What can I say it's kind of distracting around here right now. This month has been not what I wanted. The husband is dealing with a broken foot that happened at work. The doctors are not being very helpful. The doc he was seeing said it was just a contusion. Wrong! He went it the other day again and was told it is fractured. Now he has a boot on and they said they are going to get on top of it. They were suppose to call yesterday and start setting something up. No call. I'm thinking it time I release my inner bitch and give them all a piece of my mind in a way they won't see coming.  This is seriously going to damage my plans to continue hiking the Ice Age Trail. I know I sound selfish. But the husband is also finding it very hard it get a lot of other things done around here. It is making it harder for him to care for the cattle with ease. Now it is a struggle to get around. Cutting firewood is not easy. And I'm sure he is having a very

I know, you are wondering why I'm late with this post. The best excuse I can give you, it's all the husband's fault. Over a week ago he was hurt at work. He runs a loading dock. He got his right foot kind of smashed between to heavy carts. He thought be broke his leg when he called me from the emergency room. They told him he is a contusion. But he still can't walk on it. So since he can't get around very well I have to pick up the slack and help out with more things. Plus trying to pick up after him is a challenge enough too. He tries to do somethings but it's kind of hard and makes him very frustrated when he has to get my help. But it has not stopped him from going bow hunting. Too many nice bucks showing up on the trail camera. He did get one.  I guess it's a seven pointer. Notice the crutches in the background. Nice big body. So we will have some good meat for the freezer. There was one other thing that showed up on the camera that can not

Well, September is gone. This year is just fling by.  It had it's up and downs but mostly uneventful.  One sad thing that happened was our dog , Fawn passed away. She will be greatly missed. As for animals in the house I still have a cat, Minnie. But I'm not sure how long she has. She is almost 16 years old. I thought she would have gone before the dog. But once she is gone, for the first time in my whole life I will not have some kind of animal in the house. But for now Minnie is enjoying me all to herself without a dog chasing her away from me.  I still animals outside. Plus all the wild life that likes to show up in the yard.  Well believe it or not I have finished a project: I know it's not Easter. But it was the next pattern in the book. The next one will be one that will fit in for  Thanksgiving. I should get it done. As for the rest of the month, not a lot of outstanding things happened. I keep trying to get myself to make little notes as

If anyone does follow this blog, I know I'm late with the monthly post. Sorry. To tell you the truth, I forgot about it on the first until I was almost ready to go to bed.  I guess I really don't have a good  excuse. But I'm here now. So lets see, what can I talk about this last month. I saw the solar eclipse on the 21st. It was only about maybe 80% visible here. I did have a pair of the glasses so I could see it that way.  I took the day off from work so I would not miss it. It was a very calm day.  Here's a little story about what happened before that. The husband and I had gone to town to get a few things. When we got back there was a mommy deer in the yard and her baby. The baby was nursing. That is the first time I have seen that happen. I wish I had a camera with me. I know your saying, "Well you have a cell phone, don't you?" All I can say, is it's a flip phone and by the time I would have dug it out of my purse, the baby would not h

Well it's the 1st of August. I don't know about you but it feels like this year has just been flying by faster then I want it to. July had it's moments.  Nothing earth shattering happened to me. We did go hiking a few times. When it was not raining or too hot or the husband was not baling hay. You want to see a few pictures? Well they are:  The hikes were all very good. The weather was just right most of the time. During the hikes we saw different things. During one hike the husband almost walked into a bear. He was in front of me and about to round a curve in the trail when he stopped and said "Woo". I said. "What?" He said, "Bear". That's when I heard the bear start to go crashing though the woods. He figured it was about a 300 lbs. I just hope we do not run into any more. I still plan on trying to get the trail through Taylor County done by I hope Labor Day weekend. At least that's when he want

It's hard to believe that June is gone. Half the year is gone. This year is just flying by for me. Well June was a kind of busy one. I became a Grandma for the first time. Her name is Lillian Rose. She was born on the 11th. The husband and I were in the room when she entered the world.  She weighed 7 lb 14 oz and was 19 inches long. I don't get to see her to often because they live over an hour away. We have been able to see her on the weekends though. She is growing like a weed and is very healthy. I'll tell you about her from time to time. Another thing we did this month was go hiking again. Here are a few of the pictures I took:  I'm just glad we did not meet the bear that made this track. Because of all the rain we have been getting a lot of places on the trail are very wet. The last hike we had a number of places we had to go around because of the mud and water. These sections of the trail are in a lower area so they of course are we

It's almost hard to believe that the year is almost half over. Why does it feel like this year just flying by? Is it because I'm getting older? You know the older you get the faster time flies. This last month for me had it's moments. We got lots of rain which made it harder to get things done outside. A lot of farmers around here have been finding it hard to get fields planted. The husband has one more field to do yet. Hopefully tomorrow he might get it done. It's suppose to rain again this weekend.  All this rain is making it hard for me to go hiking. We did hike three times. The last one we a bit muddy. I did slip in the mud once. You want to see? When this was taken it was almost dry. The husband said we have to take a break for a a couple of weeks for a few reasons. 1st: To muddy. 2nd: To many wood ticks. He had more then I did. I think it might have to do with the fact I make sure my clothes are dried with Bounce Dryer sheets. Plus the la

Well another month has gone by. So far this year for me is just flying by. I have started my next big thing. The husband and I have started hiking the Ice Age Trail. For those of you who don't know what it is I'll tell you. It's a trail that goes through Wisconsin. It's over 1100 miles long. it's still a work in progress. There about 620 miles of it complete for hiking. The rest is connecting roads. It starts on the west side of the state by St. Croix Falls and ends up by Sturgeon Bay. For me I'm started in the middle close to home and I will work my way west. After I get the done I will come back to where we started and then start going east and south. and then north. It will take me years to do it because I can only do weekend day hikes right now, weather permitting that is. We have done a total of 5 hikes so far. Right now is a good time because it has not been hot or buggy so far but I think that is about to change. If we keep the pace we have

Happy April Fools Day to everyone! It's almost hard to believe that another month has gone by. Is it just me or is this year just flying by? My month was not to bad, for me personally that is. Let me think what to say.... I can show you the neighborhood peeping tom: This guy has been peeping in a number of different peoples basement windows this past month. I think it was part of their daily path. Morning and night, for awhile him and two other toms would come around. One would stop at the window and start banging on it. He sees his reflection and thinks it's another tom. He has put a number of holes in the screen. Dumb bird. I do have a female turkey in a pen in the back yard. You would think he would be over there trying to impress her. They just kind of look at her at move on. I do have one other animal story to tell you, but no pictures. I was sitting on the couch one afternoon after work just chilling, when I looked out the window and noticed a bird f

It's almost hard to believe that two months have gone by. I don't know if it feels like time is going faster because I'm getting older or it things are just happening that much faster. The last month for me personally was just the same old same old. But I did learn a classmate of mine passed away. We were never friends. In fact, he was one of the first ones that made my school days very miserable. Looking back on way things turned out the way they did, I kind of wish things had been different between us. He had always been on my mind when he shouldn't have been. I think that if things had been different we could have been friends and the future would have been different for both of us. But dumb me missed a last chance to see him at our last class reunion back in 2015. Now I will forever live with that regret. If I could send  him a message now I would say: Peter Keuer: To the boy I knew,  and to the man I wish I had known, you will forever be in my

Well it's the beginning of another month. January just flew by. Let see what can I tell you about the last month. My daughter and her husband announced what they are having in a kind of explosive way in my backyard. The woods is now pink. I will have a granddaughter come June sometime. Before I go any farther I will show you the swing: We have a far amount of snow right now. There was more but there was that warm spell that closed the snowmobile trail for awhile. I think that some might be opening again this weekend in some places. But I really don't care because I don't snowmobile.  If you are looking for the pink, the recent snow covered it up, so sorry. I don't know if you can see the stump in the back. There's not much left of it after the announcement. The rest of the month was not real exciting for me. Well nothing that is worth mentioning anyway. I have been working on a project. It's half done. I haven't been in the mood lately

We can finally say goodbye to 2016. This has been a year that I think most are glad to see end. So many almost unbelievable things happened. I don't think I have to list them, do I? I know I had a down feeling at the beginning of it and I guess I was right. 2017 for me I think will hold many good things. First I will become a grandma in June for the first time. Maybe that's why I feel it will be a good year.  Or maybe something else also will happen that will help me stay in high spirits. What it will be is any ones guess. As for what could happen in other things, well it will be a very eye opening year for many others. Things and people are never what they look like from a distance. Sometimes they are worse. Sometimes not so bad. I'm hoping common sense will be back in style. Lies, fake news, and half truths will not be focused on so much. To sensationalize someone else's pain to bring attention to you, is the quickest way to attra
