Showing posts with the label snow

March 1, 2015

It's the first of the month again and time to show you the picture of the swing from this year. And here is the picture from last year. We did have more snow last year compared to this year. It's still cold  like it was last year. So I guess you can say march came in like a lion this year because we were getting snow flurries this morning. Not like they have been having south and east of here. Which I'm glad. In February it did not get above freezing the whole month. No thirties. Some twenties and more below zero temps then I like to see.  Two years in a row with the snow still covered with snow at this time of year is kind of depressing. I have plans once again of things I want to get done outside. I just hope I can and that the weather will be better then it was last year.   Enough of that, I did manage to get two more projects done. Here they are. Something that can be hung on a door. Maybe for the Forth Of July or if you are very patriotic,...

If it ain't one thing it's another plus a project

Image
Lately things seam like they are getting more and more unstable. Not to say things were even stable to begin with. Like Putin.   For some reason this guy is being like totally cagey. At least that's one way to put it. The way I see it is he wants to bring the Soviet Union back together again, just like it was when he was younger. If he has to start WWIII so be it. I'm so glad I'm not a politician. What a mess to have to deal with. They have to complicate things so much because they always want to be top dog. I just wonder what his next move will be. If could talk to him I'd ask him if he really thinks things would be better. The way the world economies are right now it don't matter what anyone does it can't be fixed or improved. Remember the more you have to take care of the bigger the head aches. Big government means having to take care of a lot more lazy bums. Smaller is better. The bigger you get the more epic the fail. Just a few things to think abou...

A finish project Plus a ponder or two.

Image
I finally finished my latest project. It's another coaster set. Now it needs a home. I know I've been slacking on pondering. I have no good excuse that is except able. Maybe it's that I'm still suffering from a bad case of cabin fever. The calender tells me it's spring. The song birds returning, tells me it's spring. But all the snow on the ground tells me something different. And today, right now. It's snowing, again..Groan, groan, groan. But here is one way I help the song birds when they return and there is all this snow on the ground. Here a couple of pictures I took a little while ago of Robin's eating some apples on the apple tree. I leave apples on the tree in the fall because I know when the summer birds come back there will be snow on the ground. They will need something to eat besides seeds people put out for them. It usually doesn't take them to long once they find them to eat them all gone. I like to say it's...

March 1 thingings to report

Image
I know it's been awhile since I wrote last. It's a little later in the day then I like to post but, I was having trouble getting on to the internet. I blame it all on too much snow. Here's proof. If you look back you will see the picture I took the first of February. Last time I took the picture the snow was knee deep. This time it was up to my butt. Enough snow already. I keep hearing from people that we are suppose to get another 30 to 60 inches of snow this month. If that's the case April's picture of this swing will show it completely buried. It just could be chest high. I hope the Farmers Almanac is very wrong.  I did complete two more projects. They were not from the book.   This is still another coaster set but it was from another book. Someone requested it so I made it. This is just a little magnet. I made it and gave it to a woman at work for her father. It's his favorite holiday. So I will have to wait until after St. Patrick...

What I do on my usually normal boring humdrum week

Image
Well for me this week has been kind of on the boring side. The only different thing I've done this week is start posting on my new blog. It's called, Dear Howard, A Fading History. It's based on the old letters, pictures, and scrap book that belonged to my Grandparents  http://dear-howard-a-fading-history.blogspot.com I thought instead of putting those things here I'd start a whole new place for them. It's still a work in progress as I'm still trying to decide what to all put on there for links and other things. So if you want you can check it out. As for the rest of my week. I'm tired of the snow. This the most snow we have had at this time year in a long time. The questions I've been pondering are, whether we will get all this snow now and have an early spring? Or is this the beginning of a very long winter season? Like we had last year. Last year the snow started a little later but hung around till May. Plus it was still cold in June last year...

What an interesting week that was

Image
This last week was more than likely the most active one for all so far this year. We all know what they were, but I'll recap. First the bombing in Boston. Three killed and many hurt. So many questions, so few answers, at first. The second, was the explosion in Texas.   At least 14 known dead and hundreds hurt. Once again so many questions and so few answers. Third it was Christmas here again. Don't believe me, here are some pictures to prove it. I think someone forgot to give Mother nature the message that we all should be having spring right now. The sad part is we are in for some more of this white stuff this week.  I think they might have to change the saying from "April showers bring May flowers" to "May showers might bring June flowers". The next thing was the killing and capture of the possible bombing suspects after shutting down a part of Boston for a whole day. I wonder if we will ever know all of the reasons ...

Snow blues or cabin fever, I want spring to be sprung!!

Image
I didn't forget to write something last weekend, I just have not been in the mood to write lately.  Life for me has been as humdrum as ever. One reason is that winter will not go a way around here. It's still white outside and just won't stop. Sure it does melt but then it will snow again making a bigger mess.  I thought spring had sprung when I saw robins.   But the poor things have been snowed on at least twice since I took this picture. There is a saying that robins will get snowed on at least three times before the snow will go away. Looking at the forecast it just might be a few more times before it stops coming down in snow form. In the mean time I think we are all suffering from cabin fever in Wisconsin. The husband is. It's to muddy and sloppy to do anything outside.   I have been keeping myself a little busy by doing some plastic canvas projects. I decided to pick one of my pattern books and make everything in it. There are 101 different t...

Snow storms

Image
I wonder if that's his car or the neighbors? The poor east coast is getting hit with another storm. This time it is mostly snow and wind. Unless you live along the beach front properties. Then you have to deal with wicked waves coming to get you, just like the last hurricane. Looking into my crystal ball I see allot more big storms heading their way for an extended amount of time. So East Coast people you better get use to it, your lives will now be ruled by the wicked weather that will continue to take aim at you. Until the jet steam changes it position, that is. As for where I am, our storm is a on the way. It should start snowing here in a couple of hours or less. We should get a few inches here and maybe some mixed stuff when you go south of here. I do have one comment to say. It's about naming these kind of storms. Nemo and I think the one heading our way is being referred  to as Orko. Really? Why did they start to name storms that happen on land? Why do we h...

Searching.........

Image
I've been searching high. I've been searching low.   To write about something that could possibly be   and not OVERDONE THINGS. Like another football player killing another player in a drunk driving crash.   Cockiness can get the best of the best when they least expect it. The royal pregnancy   I say congratulations. I hope all goes well from this time forward. Followed by a tragedy. The nurse who was conned into believing that a couple of radio personalities were the Queen and Prince Charles calling. Then she killed herself over it.     I feel very bad for all parties involved. Maybe next time radio people will not take things so far. But then again with such bad impersonations of the royals I know they were sure it would not go as far as it did. So as you can see I have nothing new. I'm just sitting here waiting for the snow to start.   We could get 6 inches of snow. To tell you the truth , the timing for this sno...

What a difference a week makes

Image
Last weekend I posted a few pictures about what it looked like here. Well here a couple a pictures of what it looks like now.  This is what the trees look like. Maybe some of these trees think they are womping willows. And then this morning when I got up this is what I saw. At first I thought it was a heavy frost. Then I noticed it was snowing from time to time. I don't know if I'm ready for the white stuff. Like I said what a difference a week makes. That is about all I can say about my hum drum boring life. No excitement going on. As for things I was pondering this week, let see. The big debate, didn't watch it. I'm glad I didn't. There might have been circles on my TV if I did watch it. There was the TV news woman that got an e-mail from some guy criticizing her weight. I applaud the way she responded. As for the guy who sent it, ABC found him and questioned him about it. To me he is a very self absorbed person. He is more then likely a perf...

Top News stories that caught my eye

Image
These are the top news stories that caught my eye this week. One is the shooting in Ohio. Another school shooting because someone was bullied. Now three young boys lives were cut short because of it. My heart goes out to the  families of these boys. As for the boy who did the shooting.....I've heard very little in the news about why he really did it. Like, he did not know these boys. Or were these boys just in the wrong place at the wrong time enjoying breakfast, and seeing happy friends was just something that he could not stand that morning. But I think he did know these boys and there was something they said or did that set him on this path. But it's still no excuse for doing what he did. Plus it sounds like he had a home life that was on the violent side. So in a way it's his families fault for what happened. I know that's a cruel statement. But when you grow up in a house where parents are always fighting in front of the kids, they start to act out at others in...
