July 2018

It's July 1st, Sunday morning. The house is quiet. The husband is still sleeping. The sun will shine a bit today. It did rain last night after a couple of days of temps in the 90's. Which was too hot for me.  I was on vacation this last week. We went hiking a couple of times. I guess I'll show you a few of pictures from those hikes. Along the trail from time to time are benches. Some have dedications on them, some don't.  Not sure what this shack was for. Maybe it was an outhouse, or a hunting shack or someone suggested a North woods Tardis. What do you think?  This is a map of the trail we have been following going East.  We had been going west but the husband needed to be closer because he was baling hay.  Not sure where we will hike the next time. We might continue going East or maybe taking the trail West. It all depends on the mood and the weather. That's about all I did this last week. July, for me is going to be starting out n...

Hiking and Pondering things.

Image
I know I really missed the first of the month. I could have written something a number of times. But when the thoughts came to me I was no where near a computer. First off I will say we have been hiking. So far we have done four hikes. Here are a few pics from those hikes:  Picture of the Chippewa River. Taken during the first hike.  This nest was right next to the trail. The mama was very near by. Three of the four hikes were over by Cornell area. The last picture was taken during our shortest hike going east of here. We officially finished Taylor county. When we go east again we will be starting in Lincoln county.   So that is one thing we have been doing lately. Only weather permitting of course.  One other thing is we have celebrated our granddaughters first birthday.  They made her, her own smash cake. She got a bath right away after that. Other wise the rest of my days have been the same old same old boring days. Exc...

I know, you are wondering why I'm late with this post. The best excuse I can give you, it's all the husband's fault. Over a week ago he was hurt at work. He runs a loading dock. He got his right foot kind of smashed between to heavy carts. He thought be broke his leg when he called me from the emergency room. They told him he is a contusion. But he still can't walk on it. So since he can't get around very well I have to pick up the slack and help out with more things. Plus trying to pick up after him is a challenge enough too. He tries to do somethings but it's kind of hard and makes him very frustrated when he has to get my help. But it has not stopped him from going bow hunting. Too many nice bucks showing up on the trail camera. He did get one.  I guess it's a seven pointer. Notice the crutches in the background. Nice big body. So we will have some good meat for the freezer. There was one other thing that showed up on the camera that can not...

April 2017

Image
Happy April Fools Day to everyone! It's almost hard to believe that another month has gone by. Is it just me or is this year just flying by? My month was not to bad, for me personally that is. Let me think what to say.... I can show you the neighborhood peeping tom: This guy has been peeping in a number of different peoples basement windows this past month. I think it was part of their daily path. Morning and night, for awhile him and two other toms would come around. One would stop at the window and start banging on it. He sees his reflection and thinks it's another tom. He has put a number of holes in the screen. Dumb bird. I do have a female turkey in a pen in the back yard. You would think he would be over there trying to impress her. They just kind of look at her at move on. I do have one other animal story to tell you, but no pictures. I was sitting on the couch one afternoon after work just chilling, when I looked out the window and noticed a bird f...

January 2017

We can finally say goodbye to 2016. This has been a year that I think most are glad to see end. So many almost unbelievable things happened. I don't think I have to list them, do I? I know I had a down feeling at the beginning of it and I guess I was right. 2017 for me I think will hold many good things. First I will become a grandma in June for the first time. Maybe that's why I feel it will be a good year.  Or maybe something else also will happen that will help me stay in high spirits. What it will be is any ones guess. As for what could happen in other things, well it will be a very eye opening year for many others. Things and people are never what they look like from a distance. Sometimes they are worse. Sometimes not so bad. I'm hoping common sense will be back in style. Lies, fake news, and half truths will not be focused on so much. To sensationalize someone else's pain to bring attention to you, is the quickest way to attra...

December 2016

Well, here we are the last month of this year. Where did the year go?  Last month was a very interesting one for our future.  But before I start pondering a few things I want to share the picture I just took of the swing. For being the beginning of Dec. there is no snow on the ground. It's kind of sad. I'm use to seeing the white stuff on the ground. The grass is still green. None of the water is frozen either. We did have a little snow on the ground for the gun hunting season. But it's gone again. The husband did get two deer, a six point buck, which we donated and a doe which he gave to one of his brothers. We have enough meat in the freezer from the buck he got at the beginning of bow season. Here are two pictures of what the swing looked like for the last two years:  2015 2014 Less snow each year. Is this global warming or just a thing the planet is going through? Or like I say, the weather is a month behind itself. The planet is always cha...

October 2016

Well it's the beginning of a another month. This year is just flying by.  I had kind of a busy September. I was on vacation for two weeks. I know you want to know what I did for two weeks. Well here is the run down of what I did for two weeks.  The first thing is I went to my family cabin on the Saturday before Labor day and hung out with the family. I brought my game Cards against Humanity. Thanks to my girls I have I think all of the expansion packs so I have the Bigger Blacker Box. If your someone who gets offended very easily do not play this game. You must have a sense of humor when you play this game. I didn't bring my camera so no pictures. And no I do not have a smart phone, I have a flip phone. I'm old school. I believe a phone is for phone calls. Not taking pictures, playing games and checking out whatever or whoever at a moments notice, just because your nosy and  need instant answers.  It was nice hanging out with the family for the day and it...

It's July 2016!

I know if anyone is following me, I'm sorry I'm late with this post. I was out of town yesterday so I'll post something now. First I will share a couple of pictures I took on Friday. We were up north of here at Minocqua. These were taken at the "Wildwood Wild Life Park. They are always changing things. They are adding an area that will  have more animals from Africa. It is a very family friendly place. There are a number of goats that are running around in the one area. And some deer that are running around in another. And as you can see there also a number of turtles running around. And you can see having fun with one another. After seeing that I know why there were so many smaller turtles in different pens.  And this black bear was just chillin' out, maybe after one to many bear sodas. You can feed this bear or another bear a bottle of soda that you can buy from a machine especially for them.  If you find yourself up north you should check out Mi...

It's the first of a month and I finally have a little time to post something. To start with here is a picture of the swing I just took. It's a nice sunny day right now, but it is a little on the chilly side. It's around 20 degrees right now. Not a whole lot of snow on the round right now. Next week it is suppose to get warmer. I hope we do have an early spring. I want to do things outside. Now to compare, here are pictures from the last two years. Last year. 2014 Now that year we had snow. With each year we are getting less and less snow. I wonder how much we will have next year at this time. I'm sorry to say I do not have a project done. It's almost done but not quite. I will have it finished by the start of next month, I promise. Plus I might have another one also, maybe. I suppose I should ponder something. Since today is what they are calling Super Tuesday I guess I could comment on the possibilities of what could happen aft...

September 1

Image
I know it's been a month but I am still here. Here is the first of the month picture of the swing. I the weeds look like they are flatter then they were last month. The grass is still very green for this time of year because we have been getting a lot more rain then we usually get. At least it's not cold, yet.  The husband is trying to figure out exactly what kind of winter we will have this year. A lot of snow or not. Cold or mild. He has a few methods he goes by but this year he is not guessing. So I guess time will tell what Mother Nature has in store for us this year. My second batch of gnomes have been done for awhile and I remembered to take a picture of them. They look better then they did. I have one more plastic canvas project done. A welcome sign to hang on the door. I suppose your wondering what else I've up to. Well not to much. My youngest one thinks I should ponder things that are not so depressing. She is right. Right now I'm...

Just thoughts

I was wrong about momma Phoebe bird she is on her nest. I'm trying not to disturb her to much. She does not seam to be bothered when we open and close the door or if we sit on the other side of the deck. So I will leave her alone in this time of incubation. As for the play I auditioned for, not going to happen. I guess this town is to busy to bother with that sort of thing during the summer. In this town people live here and work here but would rather spend time somewhere else in their free time. No one wants to invest in this town unless it involves drinking. Oh well enough about how boring this place is. The wood ticks are still out in force. Last weekend I had two on me. One I found right away the other I found the next day just attached to my neck. It was a regular wood tick and not the one that carries Lyme. Yesterday me and the girls went up the family cabin where my parents and brother were staying for the weekend. I didn't get one but my dad had about five of them on hi...

Ponderings

It's getting harder to watch the news lately. So many people are losing their jobs because of everything slowing down. No job of any kind is very safe any more. With so many people losing their jobs what does the future hold for any one. I worked yesterday but I think it will be the last Saturday work we will have for awhile, maybe. They let the temp workers go on Friday, but it always gets slower just after the holidays for us. But this next year will be one of the worst ones we have seen in about 26 years, I think. Where the husband works it will get even worse. He works for a factory that makes windows and doors. Anything to do with construction is being hit worse. How did we get where we are? Did extreme greed finally run it's course? And we are now left with the mess of trying to figure out how to fix things. Who are the ones that are profiting from all this the most? What do they hope to really achieve? Like the governor of Ill? Or do these people suffer from the 'I a...

Ponderings

Fall is here. Everything is falling. Leaves, acorns, stocks, banks, incomes, hope and soon there will be snow. Which means that there will bigger raises in the prices of everything in our lives. Will we be able to figure out the best way to get things under control? How long will it take to feel comfortable in life again? Where did it all begin? Who is really in control of things? In my opinion greed has taken over the whole world. Nothing the average person can do will help. Maybe we should all go back to the barter system. We need to learn to live within our means. Having everything does not make you a better person. Being a happy healthy human being will get you allot farther in life then having the latest so called hottest trend in your home. Live simply and stress will be lower in your life. I believe that no matter what we humans believe about being in control is totally wrong. Mother nature will decide our fate. And right now I believe she is going through the change. So hang...

Lilacs in Bloom

Image
Another Saturday morning and all is quiet for the moment. Right now the sun is shinning and there is a slight breeze. Yesterday was a different story. When I was driving to work it started raining very hard as I went through town. I could hardly see where I was going. Once at work I sat in my car for about 10 minutes as always, by then it had stopped. But when I got out of work it was very windy. The flag at work was straight out not drooping at any second. It was like that most of the afternoon. At least it didn't rain here any more. It's suppose to have a chance a rain most of the weekend and be in the high 70's close to 80. I like those temps. The other day I took some pictures , here is my lilac bush: I love the smell of lilacs. The only bad thing is they only last a couple of weeks. Right now it's at full bloom. This is the front deck we are working on. It has a little way to go yet, but once it's finished I plan on hanging a few plants up, a wind chime and a ...
