Is Something Wrong with my Home Town?

It's a question I keep asking myself. People live and work here but they don't like to do anything else here. Like not last weekend but the weekend before we did a production of "A year with Frog and Toad." I know I was involved with it so I might sound a little opinionated but it was a very good show. The people who saw it loved it. But they were small audiences. Most people in my home town would rather go to another town or go camping then to spend time here. This last weekend they had the Annual Auto fest in the park. There was also craft booths set up along the river walk. My youngest one and I went to check out the crafts. When we got there there was hardly anything there. Other years there have been more booths set up but not this year. And the number of cars on show was I think way down. Each year it gets less and less. This next weekend will be the County fair. I know it will once again be a bust. It has gotten worse and worse over the years. The same old sa

Pondering Sunday

Believe it or not I had to work yesterday. On a Saturday. It's something that is almost rare to hear now a days. It was voluntary. So not everyone worked. But I might be working more overtime starting next month. It usually gets busier about that time of year. It was posted at work the price that we pay for cheese at work is going up 5 cents to thirty cents a pound depending on the cheese we want to buy from the office. I wonder if anytime soon we will see the price go down. I doubt it. Everything has gotten so out of control so fast. It makes my head spin. To me it looks like no one really cares, especially our leaders. I always thought things were suppose to happen gradually, like a nice gentle rain. Not a down pour all at once. Over time, not in a matter of months or weeks. I see that oil is starting to go down. But as much as it has gone down, why hasn't the price at the pump gone down just as fast as it went up? Who is really in control of our country? Is it oil companie

Land Of The Twisted

Have you ever heard of the Land of The Twisted? It's a place were everything we know is twisted. Everything old is new and everything new is old. Technology is going backwards (sometimes I feel this is not a bad thing). Trees are all twisted together. Nothing grows straight up. Some buildings look like twisted ice cream cones. While others looked like they were laying on their side, which means to go to the next room you had to climb a ladder to get to it. If you wanted to go to the next floor you take an elevator that goes sideways. You should see the animals. You should see the cowlephant. It's as big as an elephant but looks like a cow. Then there is the drog. It looks like a cross between a dog and a frog. It's really a dog that's hops around like a frog. Boy can they hop. If you asked one to speak it would sound like a regular bark a croak at the end. Then there is the cawl. It's an owl with the head of a cat. It flies silently through the trees and calls ou

Sunday updates

I was going to write yesterday but we had a small graduation party for my youngest one. She graduated back in May from the Tech in Wausau as an administrative assistant. She is lucky and already has a good job. The reason we waited so long to have the party was June was a very busy month with other parties, birthdays(mine included) and my husband making hay. He has about 30 more acres to bail yet, although the shed is almost full of hay. Anyway the party was small not a whole lot of people which means I have more food left over then I thought I would. The good thing is I won't have to do much cooking at all this week. Which is also a good thing because I'm involved with the theater which is preforming the play A year with Frog and Toad this week. I'm charge of the back stage. I'm also on vacation this week. I might write more this week I might not, it all depends on if I have anything to say about anything that's been going on. One bit of local news, is a weird thi

Turkey Update and The Bear

It's the day after the fourth and I hope all had a good time. For me it was just another day except I didn't have to work yesterday. My husband was baling hay all day. He will be baling hay today also and plans on resting tomorrow. Our shed is almost full of hay and he still has a couple of fields to go. This year he might even get a second a crop and if he does I'm not sure where he will put it. The pictures of the turkeys from the last post, when I showed them to my husband he said they were Jakes not hens. He said the flight feathers were gray and that is a sign of a tom. I haven't seen them in the yard again so far. Up by the family cabin my parents and a niece were up there. At one point my dad who was outside by the fire pit, told my mom and niece to look out the back window. Out by a spot where they scatter a little corn for the deer was a young bear cub. It was a baby from last year they think. It wasn't real small but it wasn't very big either. My niece
