Love Potion #9

Image
For Valentines Day I've decided to post a recipe I found in one of my cookbooks. I hope you enjoy it. If you try it I would love to know if things turned out the way you wanted them to.      LOVE POTION #9 This juice is recommended as a reaffirmation or strengthening of love between two individuals who are already romantically involved. All the herbs and fruits of this recipe have been chosen for their long-standing association with love. The number of slices of each fruit is for various reasons. The lemon and orange represent the self in a partnership. The three berries are the trinity of you, your partner, and the togetherness as a couple. The total of six is for devotion. 2 cups apple juice 2 cups apricot nectar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/8 teaspoon ginger 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon 2 cups ginger ale 6 raspberries 6 strawberries 2 orange slices 2 small slices lemon peel Mix the apple juice, nectar, vanilla, ginger, and cinnamon. Slowly add the ginger ale; mix...

Gooey Butter Cake

I've decided to post the recipe for Gooey butter cake so all can enjoy. Gooey Butter Cake Crust: 16oz. pound cake mix 1 stick butter, melted 2 eggs, slightly beaten Filling: 8oz. cream cheese, softened 16oz. powdered sugar (one box) 2 eggs 1 1/2 T. vanilla Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. For the crust, combine pound cake mix melted butter, and 2 eggs with a fork until moist. Spread in an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. ( Pat the crust mixture in the bottom of the pan and slightly up the sides.) In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar together for 3 minutes with an electric mixer on high. Turn the mixer down to low and add eggs and the vanilla. Mix well. Pour over crust and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with additional powdered sugar over the top of cake after baking. I got this out of Llewellyn's Withes' Datebook.
