It's the beginning of another month and almost the end of another year. Where has the time gone?  Before I get into any pondering I'll share the latest picture of the swing. I took this after I got home from work. But it was sleeting at the time. Now here is what it looked like last year. It was sunnier and we had more snow last year.  This last month for me was uneventful for me. The husband did get one deer during the gun season. An eight pointer. Want to see? No he did not shoot it in the yard. He was in the woods back behind our place away. We never seen this fellow in the yard. Not even on the trail camera he sets up every once in awhile in the yard.  I wonder if Fred survived the season and if I'll see him again. Maybe next year I'll be calling him Stanley. I did manage to get one project finished. Just a little guy who can sit on a shelf.   Well I suppose you want to know what I'll be pondering. There are a lot of d

It's the beginning of another month. October has come and gone. It's been an interesting month for many in different places. The weather around here has been on the warmish side. But we did have one day this last week where I awoke to snow covering the ground. But by the time I got out of work it was gone. The start of this week is going to be on the warm side for November. It's suppose to almost or around 60 degrees at the beginning of the week. Before I forget I will show you the picture of the swing I just took. The grass for this time of year around here is still green. Leaves are off most of the trees which is the way it's suppose to be.  Now the way it looked last year. It was frosty last year at this time. So as you can see each year can be very different. Plus I think last year's picture was taken in the morning and this year was taken after three in the afternoon. Would you believe I actually got a plastic canvas project done. It&#

Remember the Heroes

Image
I was thinking and I'm sure a lot of other people are saying it too. We should remember the people who did heroic things in the middle of a dangerous event and never mention the offender by name or show their picture. This last idiot who ended innocents peoples lives imagined he could go down in history with everyone knowing his name. There is nothing I hate worse then people who think that doing a horrible act of violence will let the very mention of their name bring back their awful deed and never be forgotten. I think the media should all adopt the policy that the name and picture of the idiot not be said over and over again. They should only be refereed to as the "Shooter" or "The one who shall be forever unnamed". The act of what they did will be mentioned but their name and picture will be forever forgotten. Only the name and pictures of the heroes will be prominent.   Like Chris Mintz. His name should be forever remembered. But we should let h

Well it's the first of the month again. I know I keep promising to post more often and I don't. I do try to think about it. I'm starting to make little notes about things I could ponder but for some reason I don't. One day I will surprise you and do it more often. Anyway here is the latest picture of the swing. I decided to change the angle I take. We have used the fire pit a few times. It's very cozy. Maybe some time soon I'll have to invite a few friends to come over for a little campfire therapy. I also want to get some special chairs to put around the pit. Here is the picture from last year.  Looks a bit different. Once again I have not made a project from the book but I will be starting one real soon I promise. As for pondering's, there are a few different things I can write about. One thing was that guy who was trying to increase the price of a pill from $18 to $750. Talk about super greed. I looked up what the pill was

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short. I have a good excuse. I was on a short trip to Minnesota and did not get home till later in the day.  First here is the first of the month picture of the swing. (I did take one last night after we got home)  As you can see the food plot the husband planted is growing nicely.  I suppose your wondering what is in front of it now. Let me show you. It's our version of a fire pit area. It's not completely done yet but it is usable now. We plan on making a kind of planter around three sides where I hope to plant plants that help keep mosquitoes away. Plus on the corners will be places to hang containers for candles. I finally found what I wanted. They already have citronella candles in them. Now to get the right kind of weekend and it will be the perfect place to chill out.   I have not been working on any plastic canvas projects. I can't seem to get myself in the mood. Maybe when it starts getting colder again I wi

Class Reunions

Class reunion, to go or not to go. That is the question. My answer is not.  I've been out of school for 35 years. I never fit in with the class of 1980 then and I still don't now. I still live in the same town, as do many I graduated with. I don't see many of them, as our paths rarely cross. When they do, it's very uncomfortable. I don't know how they see me. I often wonder do they see me as I am now or are they still thinking of me as I was. I guess when you see someone from the past you don't really judge them with new eyes but by old memories. Some will be able to see the older you but others are still looking at you with past ideas of who they thought you were then. Unfortunately there are a lot in my class that still judge people with old memories. I found a saying recently that I like. "Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who are committed to misunderstanding you." I do waste a lot of my time tr

It's the first of the month once again and I'm back. I keep saying I'll post something in-between but for some reason I can't get myself motivated to do it.I think it might be because I spend more time on Dear Howard: A fading History that when it comes to putting things on here my get up go has got up and went. If you wondering how long I will be posting on my other blog, I really can't say. It could be at least another year or more. There are a lot of letters to be shared yet. Anyway here is the picture of the swing I took this morning.  The husband decided to plant a food plot for the deer. It nice not looking at the weeds. Here is what it looked like last year.   What a difference a year could make. it does look better without the weeds in the back ground. I mentioned that he planted a food plot to attract deer. Well here is a picture of one of the deer we see. He is a four pointer. I've named him Fred. The other day it

Another month has gone by. Where is the year going?  I keep promising to post more often but for some reason I can not find the time and or motivation to do it. I do have another blog where I do have myself on a schedule, posting twice a week. That blog is called Dear Howard: A fading History, if you don't already know about it.  Plus right now I'm involved with a play, which I have a part in. The play is Called "A Bad Year for Tomatoes". The show dates are next weekend. It's a very funny play.  I  have not been making any plastic canvas because of the play plus I had to teach myself how do knit. My character knits on stage. Now the only thing I have to figure out is what to do with what I'm knitting.  Those are my present excuses for not posting here. Here is the picture I just took of the swing for the 1st of July.  If you notice in the background there are hay bales on the field. They belong to my brother-in-law. Now here is what it loo

I know I promised to post more often, sorry. I've been busier then I thought I would be. between my youngest daughter getting married and me getting a part in a play, I don't have too much time for other things. Plus my other blog, Dear Howard, a Fading History. Which I do post on twice a week. That's the main reason I think I don't post here more often. First let me show you the picture of the swing, which I just took.  Everything is nice and green and really growing nicely. Now here is the picture from last June. The grass was not as long last year and the dandelions were still around more then they are right now. I guess paining it really made a great difference. Now for the second thing I promised, a plastic canvas project.  Just a little thing that can hang on a door knob or just on a wall somewhere. I don't think I'll have an other project done by next time. Why you asked. well to tell you the truth I'm doing a littl

Dads Award

Image
I know I promised to post yesterday but I swear I have a good excuse. Let me explain. First off, I got up a little later then I thought I would.  Second, the husband got up right after I did. Well not long after. Just about the time I was planning to post here. I don't write well when he is hovering around. I do not focus well. The rest of the day I was busy. I went to a birthday party for my nieces little boy who just turned one. That was an afternoon thing. At night I went to a ceremony that recognized different people and businesses in the community for different things. I went because my dad got the Lifetime Achievement award.  Now if your wondering what he has done, I will say what hasn't he done. He was a volunteer fireman for many years. He still hangs around there helping with different things and going to the meetings. He is an EMT. He has been on the church council and is still very active in the church. He was on the board of a local credit
