Classes in Life

Yesterday I was talking to the youngest one about different things. I'm not sure exactly how we got on this one subject but I think it was something people should really think about.
We got on the subject of what we learn in school and how much of those things we use after school. Also why they don't teach more things that are more helpful once you get out of school.
What I mean is that allot of kids do not have the slightest idea how they are going to support themselves. Allot of kids do not have any clue on how much it really takes to be a success at not getting into financial binds.
Not only do allot have problems with money but they can't seam to do anything for themselves without allot of help from others who are really having a hard time taking care of themselves.
Some people will say that those kinds of lessons should be learned at home. I ask how can they learn when their parents never got a clue on how to do things better. Most of them are so wrapped up in their problems and their own selfish wants that they can't see what is happening to their offspring.
So why can't the schools find ways to teach some kind of life classes starting in the elementary grades with something small or easy to get them into the habit of doing things in a way that it could give them a chance to a better future and really understand and get them ready for a time when they are on their own. For allot of kids this happens the minute they graduate. Their parents say "You are out of here!"
One idea for a class is to teach the kids about money and what can happen when they can understand saving, earning and managing money. I've heard of a couple of places that have something similar they teach and those kids get a very good idea how money should be handled.
There could a class somewhere that can help them understand possible life situations that could happen. You name it it could be explored and debated.
Like the youngest one said, "That about 75% of things she had to take in school does not apply to her life or is even used now."
If you know there is something you really want to get into then you can take the things needed to get you on the trail. Not everyone is meant to be an academic. Sometimes on the job training is the best way to go.
But first a person must know the basics about life and how to coop with things in the best way without turning to drugs, alcohol or violence .
Animals teach their young how to search for food. They must learn or die. We are really the same. But we are suppose to do things in a more civilized manner.
Another thing that really needs to be taught and I've said it a number of times already is, RESPECT!
TO GET RESPECT YOU MUST GIVE RESPECT!
BUT FIRST YOU MUST HAVE SELF RESPECT,
ONCE YOU HAVE SELF RESPECT,
YOU HAVE SELF CONTROL!!!!

Maybe some time in the future people will realize these things just might help.

Thought of the day:
"Making mistakes proves you're trying."
