Our Trip up North

Last week the husband and I went up north for a few days. Up north I mean to the upper peninsula of Michigan. We went to places like St. Ignace where we climbed Castle rock. It is on the north side of the bridge. This is view from the top over looking the bay.
We then headed up to Sault Ste. Marie where we watched some big ships go through the locks. I forgot the camera at the motel. We would have loved to go into Canada but no pass ports. So we just looked across the locks into Canada. Some day I will get a pass port and be able to so I can say bin there done that.
Another thing we went to was Oswalds Bear Ranch. It's the only bear ranch of it's kind in the US. They take in bears that have been rescued I think they were all cubs when they first arrive. There are about 29 there right now.  You can get your picture taken with a cub. There are two there right now. These bears are given the chance when it's around winter time to leave if they want but I think most stay. They are some very well feed bears. You can not go into the pens of the bigger bears.

Another thing we saw was Tahquamenon Falls. It has two secions. Upper and lower. It was very pretty.

We also took a cruise at Munising to the pictures rocks. It was a 2 1/2 to almost three hour ride but the rocks along Lake Superior are very breathtaking.

Being up north is also being in Yooper country. So being up there we had to stop at Da Yooper Tourist Trap.

Well that's kind of our trip in a nutshell. The husband was not happy about the fact that we saw no deer. We were in one county that claimed to be the Moose Capital of Michigan. We were told you would have better luck winning the lottery then seeing a moose.
