GOODBYE 2010!!!!!!!

Image
It's time to say goodbye to 2010. Allot of things happened this year. Unfortunately most of it was bad. We all know what the bad things were. So I don't think I have to say what they were. Many people will be making all kinds of New Year's promises tonight but most will be broken before the first day is over.  The only thing I would like to say goodbye to is negative energy. I would like to be more positive. I know things never go exactly the way I imagine they will, but I can try. I also hope that those who read my blog from time to time don't forget about me and drop by every once in awhile to see me. I would love to hear from you. Always open to suggestions about topics.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A HAPPY, SAFE  AND MAGICAL WEEKEND!

Three Dirty Little Stories

Now I know it's been awhile since I posted anything, sorry. I've been suffering from brain lock, no new ideas to post. Plus I'm also involved in the local Community Theater. We are working on the play "Greetings!" So we have rehearsals four nights a week. The performance dates are January 13th, 14th and 15th.  I'm stage manager, again and also assistant director. Anyway one day last week before we started practice I heard three very interesting stories that I decided to share with you. They are all true stories. The first one involves a wrestler, high school I think. In the middle of his match he had a sudden case of explosive diarrhea. Of course the matched was stopped. You can just imagine what was going through everyone's mind along with the gag reflexes that people were trying to keep under control. Well of course the mat had to be cleaned up and also the boy who had the issue. But I really give him allot of credit. Once he was cleaned up he came

Pondering the Palin's

Image
I don't know about you but I'm so tired for hearing the name Palin. Why can't they all just fad into the background and never be heard from again.  As for Sarah ever becoming the head of this country, not going to happen. And if it does, it will be the end of this country as we know it. Maybe that's what 2012 is, the end because of an airhead who to me has more radical ideas then we know of right now. I would fear for all if she ever gets any real controlling power. As for her books, a waste of paper. Not going to read it. I've heard a few snippets from the latest and I think it's starting to show how damaging her thinking can be.  I was just thinking of another group that has unsettling ideas, you know the one that protests at military funerals. That's how I see her.  As for her daughter still being on Dancing With The Stars, boy am I glad I don't watch that show. Talk about something being rotten in show biz. I will encourage others to vote for Jen

Pondering Zahra Baker

Image
I have been thinking about Zahra Baker and how her short life came to such a tragic end. This poor girl had been through hell and didn't come back again. Why? The father and step mother caused her death in some way or another. Why did they treat her so badly? If they didn't want her why didn't they just send her to her biological mother? These kind of situations that seam to be happening more and more make me so mad. An innocent child who just wanted to be loved was only made to feel worthless by the people who were suppose to make her feel safe. The only thing is now she is at peace. It's just so sad that she could not have had that while she was here. As for the father and step mother, you will get exactly what you ask for when you did what you did to Zahra. Karma is a powerful thing to deal with when you harm someone else. I wish in a way I could have meet Zahra I think she would have been an amazing girl. To go through all the other things she went through pl

Halloween Pictures from the past

Image
Looking through the old pictures I found a few that I thought would be perfect for Halloween. The first one I know is my grandpa because it was written on the back. No year but I'm guessing it's from the 1920's.    I'm assuming that one of these people is my grandpa and I think they are dressed up for Halloween. I thought this would be a good one for Halloween because of the double exposure. At the time he was trying his hand at developing film. I think the man on the left is him and the woman in the middle was one of his lady friends.                           I thought this was an interesting picture. It's a little hard to see but it you look real close you can make out a woman holding a cup. On the back of the picture it says Aunt Selma. Who's aunt I'm not sure. Or maybe it's the ghost of Aunt Selma caught on film. Just a little Halloween treat from the past.  A past that is fading away never to be know or seen again.

Pondering What you would like to do?

Image
If there was one thing you always wanted to do above all else, what would it be? I found this question on a blog I found called 365 Stories In A Year.By Lee Pound. It was in one of his stories. When I saw this question and I thought it was a good one to ask people. So for about a week I was asking people this question. Some people really had to think about it while others took no time at all. Some of the ones who took a little bit of time thinking said they would like to travel somewhere. Some had a destination. Like, Cancun, Hawaii, taking his kids to places he has seen, Norway( because his family was from there), to go to Germany and visit WWII museums,to just travel the world safely , to just take his wife a nice vacation. One person also said to just take off. No destination in mind just go.This is one thing that is at the top of my list. The rest gave me all kinds of answers and here they are: Would like to be able to talk in front of a group of people. Graduate collage, i

Pondering Respect; Does it exist anymore?

Image
This past week this question has been on my mind. With all the things that have been happening lately I decided to ask people at work or that I met how they would answer three questions about respect. I was just curious to see what kind of answers I would get. Most of the answers did not surprise me. So here are the questions and summery of the answers. Number 1: Does respect exist anymore? The majority said little or not as much as it use too. Some same in some places it does. It all depends where. Few said not at all. I agree with not as much as it use too. We have become a society where people only think about themselves. Number 2: Who or what do you respect the most? The majority of the people said parents. Someone said her daughter. A few said their elders. A few said the constitution. A couple said no one. One person said an old gym teacher. Because he help him with an important medical issue. I will say I respect my parents. I guess your parents should be at

Pondering Bullying

Image
With all the things being reported about bullying I thought I would try and find a few definitions of what a bully is.   It is so sad to hear of someone who has ended their life because someone has decided to humiliate them just for their own entertainment. I know they will say that they didn't mean no harm. They never thought it would lead to this.  That's the problem. No one knows how the think or respect anyone any more. I can't imagine what it is like to be a kid now a days.  It was bad enough when I was a kid. Most days dreading going to school not sure what was going to happen. At least at home you felt a little safer.  But know in the internet and cell phone age that feeling of being a little bit safer is gone. Bullies can now hide behind the these things. They can start a campaign to hurt someone because they felt like they were wronged by this person or this person did something to make them look in a worse light. Or the person  might be gay. The bully can get

Pondering Common Sense

I just decided to ponder some of things I've seen on the news lately dealing with common sense. The first thing is about the interruption of Facebook. It made me laugh at how some people got so upset over not being able to get on to it. I do have a facebook account but I don't spend much time on it. I use to play like farmville but soon got bored with it because it got to demanding with the up keep. I have the real thing outside, in the real world. I post from time to time but I have no need to tell people what I'm doing and thinking every few hours. I save it all up for this blog.Maybe not all of it. Just when the need to write something becomes overpowering. Like now, do I have common sense? Another thing I saw was about a couple of girls fighting and one of the moms was there cheering her daughter on. It had been posted on U-tube.The mom has been charged with something. Right now I can't think of what the charges were. Anyway she made a statement about way she wa

The Great Chicken Debate of 2010 part 2

Image
Well, I thought I would update you on the last great debate in my hometown about chickens.  After so much debate over the banning of chickens the city council had to put it to another vote because one member changed their mind. The vote ended up in favor of the chickens. YEAH!!!!!!!!! OK, I don't live in town now but, I did grow up there. I think that having a few chickens in town should not be a problem. One of the rules the council agreed to is that one property could have no more then four chickens. Which is within the limits I thought would be just right. Another is a five dollar fee per year to have the chickens, which is not to bad. No more then a dog. Then a few rule on where the area that the chickens are kept in, I see nothing wrong with that. Hopefully this a sign of good things to come.  Now that the Great Chicken debate is over I wonder what will be the next big problem that will be tackled.

Lookin' For Fame?

Lookin' for fame in all the wrong places. Lookin' for fame for all the wrong reasons. Lookin' for fame in all the wrong ways. This has been running through my head lately. Why? Because so many people are getting way to much attention for things that are really not worth it in the long run. Who are some of these people? Here is the top three that I see are going for the wrong kind of fame right now. The one at the top of the list is the pastor from Florida who is planning on burning some Korans on Saturday and he is encouraging others to do the same. The only thing he will accomplish is making it harder for all of our troops that are stationed around the world. He is also making it more unsafe for other Americans who are in other countries. Let me just say that this man does not speak for the majority of Americans. I would like to say that 99% disagree with him. He claims that if God tells him not to he won't. Will he get the sign he is looking for? Maybe

Bigger Is Not Necessarily Better

I decided to take a survey today a work. The question was: "When I say, Bigger is not necessarily better, what comes to your mind?" Most people would grin at first not sure what to say. I told them whatever it is just say it. As you might guess most answers involved sex. These are some of the things they said that involved sex: Penis was said 10 times. Sex was said 4 times. Boobs was said 5 times. Then there was naughty thoughts, dirty stuff and something sexual. The other short replies were;   A house, a meal, money, government, plant building, engine, bullshit, weight, ice cream cone, size, piece of cake, big corporations and big business. The other longer replies were: Heavier people are friendlier then skinny people. Bigger could lead to lower quality. Quality beats quantity. It's not the size of the ship, it's how you sail it. It's how you use it. Not always a good thing to be over educated.  Now to tell you the truth I knew I would get answers

The Great Chicken Debate of 2010

Image
Recently the biggest news in my hometown paper has been about if chickens should be allowed in town. It all started when someone noticed a few chickens in a pen in someones backyard. Now being, what I think is just a busy body, this person went to the courthouse to find out what the rules were for having chickens in town. There was none at the time. Well, some how the paper got word of it and did a story about the people who had the chickens in question. The people had I think four or five hens in a small pen that they moved around the yard so the chickens could eat grass and other things. It was a cute little a-frame shaped pen. The father was originally raised on a farm himself and he just wanted to show his kids what it takes to raise chickens. I think this fall he was planning on butchering them.  This story set off a fire storm of debate which ended up in front of the city council. They were forced to make a ruling whether chickens should be allowed in town or not. What was the ve

A letter to Howard

I've been thinking of posting something but I wasn't sure what. So I decided to post one of the old letters. This one was post marked Sept. 9, 1932. So here it is: Dear Howard; I received your most welcome letter and I was glad to hear from you, how are you? Gee it's been a long time since you have written to me, and I haven't answered you, you'll have to forgive me. I'm so busy working 10 hours a day, six days a week and when I get home I'm all tired out.And you enjoying yourself out in Ogema going to places such as parties or dances or any place where you could have fun. You know ever since I left Wisconsin I always dream of being there and when I wake I find myself here, isn't that awful? I wish I could meet some real people, someday. Howard the only real people I've met is in Wisconsin. Here boys and girls are all together different, they are mostly wild which I hate. So I wish I could go back to Wisconsin soon and get a job anywhere

Swimming advice and other things

Watching the news today they talked about 6 teenagers that drowned at the same time. I understand that how it happened was that one did not know there was a drop off. The part I find  hard to believe is that of all the people there no one knew how to swim. I only want to ask is, if you don't know how to swim why do you not have some kind of flotation devise with you. Me, I'm a swimmer. But if I'm around someone who does not know how to swim I try to tell them to very careful. You never know what is under the water. They should also have something to hold onto when they are in water they are not sure of. I know they did mean to wade out so far but it happens when you lest expect it. My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones. Advice to all, no matter who you are if you plan on spending any time in or around the water you should know the basics even if it's just the dog paddle. And always have something with you that can float on. Even an experienced s

Bugging Me

I think I'll make this post about things that have been bugging me lately. One thing is all the media coverage about Lindsey Lohan. Enough already! She is just another ego driven person who can't see what she is really doing to herself. If I could give her advice I would say; Take this time you are spending in jail and take a real hard look at your life. Honestly think about the direction your life is taking. Is being so self absorbed really going to get you anywhere but more lost? After jail, I hope rehab will get you off all those unnecessary drugs. Believe me once you see life through clear eyes it will take your breath away. And if I could suggest one more thing I would say move away from the Hollywood scene for about three years. Another thing is how Sarah Palin and her family keep popping up. Her daughter and the father of her baby deciding to get married and making the announcement so public only tells me it's for a possible reality show.( Something I never pla

Tractor fire

Image
Just before the fourth of July one of my brother-in-laws tractors started on fire. As of right now I have not heard if they know exactly what started it. The husband thinks it might have been the starter.  The brother-in-law had been using it all day and had it parked near the barn because he had to milk the cows. He did not know it was on fire right away. It was not until he was in the barn doing chores when he noticed some black smoke rolling across the field. He went out outside to find out what was on fire. It was the tractor, he grabbed a water hose and proceeded to put out the fire .   It's a good thing it was Diesel or it could have been a very big fireworks, up close and personal.

People gone stupid

I don't know about where you are but it's a little too hot and sticky here. I know I should not complain for what we have here. What they have on the east coast is far worse then what we have here. So call me a whiner. I'll just say I work with cheese, it comes with the territory. Any who, since it's too hot and sticky to do things outside without feeling like a wet rag I think I'll just write a few comments about things I've heard on the news. The first thing I'd like to comment on is Lindsey. It's about time someone did something to try and start to open her eyes about the real world. Just because she has been in movies does not make her above the law when it comes to paying the price for doing something against it. If just your average Joe or Jane did what she did the law would not have been so lenient with making sure the price was paid in a reasonable time. She was given more chances then I would have ever given her, if I was a judge. Maybe sh

Just Thinkin'

Think. Think what? Anything. Like what? News things. Examples please. Oil? Overdone.  Celebrities? Overdone. Weather? Overdone. Politics? Overdone. Fashion? Overdone. Tech stuff? Overdone. Sports? Overdone. Movies? Mmm.... Nah. Books? What kind of books? Any kind. Name some. Non fiction. Like what? History? Who's history? Your history. There is no book.....yet. Someone's memoir? That's fiction. Romance? Too predictable. Adventure?   Like that. Finally. Finally what? Something to think about. I'm suppose to think? Yeah!!! Not in the mood. Then what was this about? You tell me. Just a little nonsense for today.....
