Steamshow 2013

Image
This weekend the husband and I went to the Steam Show by Edger. We went on Saturday because we knew that on Sunday it was going to be even hotter. Being a kind of farmer, the husband is always interested in tractors. There was also a good sized flea market. There are so many things to look at. Here are a few pictures that I took of a couple of the tractors. These are a couple of the steam engines. These things are very loud. At noon they had all the steam engines blow their whistles. I was glad I was on the furthest end of the flea market when they went off. This yellow one just caught my eye because I think it was a homemade one I think, but I could be wrong. I thought this guy looked like he needed a hug. So I gave him a hug. I think everyone needs a hug from time to time.  Unfortunately this guy was not for sale. He was on the soft side. He did have a buddy on the bench with him so he was not totally alone in his misery. The bench was for sale but I was no

This past weekend the husband and I took one of our little day trips. this time we went to Dells Mill by Augusta Wisconsin. I've seen pictures of this place for many years and we thought it was time to really check it out. For me it was great  a place to go.I'm hoping to go back again. Maybe when the leaves are turning. We meet the owner Gus Clark. He is the 4th generation of Clark's to own the mill. I enjoyed it very much. Gus knows allot about history. He takes you through the mill explaining how things worked and also the history how grinding changed over time starting in Roman times. While giving his tour he wears a hat from the civil war times. The mill was built by civil war soldiers.  Back in 1972 he rode his horse Clementine from Jim Falls to Galena Illinois for the celebration of U.S. Grant's sesquicentennial. He did it in 7 days. His goal was to link mill property to other historic places in the U.S.A. I might recall something on the news

Two more projects done, Plus a tragedy

As you can see it is a set. One is for that extra tp roll. The other a tissue cover.  This is what the top of the tp holder looks like. So now on to the next one. Only two more tissue holders to go before I move on to the next group of things. Now on to the tragedy. There was a double murder in my back yard.  My last two turkeys were murdered by a mink. I'm still not sure exactly how it got into the pen. The husband was able to give it swift justice. He was to late to save my girls though. I will miss Lady and Jezebel. I will miss hearing them clucking and giving them a good pet from time to time. We plan on redoing the pen and coop for next year and hopefully be able to get some more.  So till next time. Keep on pondering the pondering possibilities.

What does it mean

Life plus a thousand years. What does that mean?     I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm glad he got what he got. At least the country did not have to hear about another trial for months that would cost the government allot of unnecessary expenses . Not to say that him being in jail for the rest of his life will be cheap either. It's the plus thousand years. Does it mean, that once he is dead  the prison keeps his body for a thousand years, then after that time is up they throw whatever is left of him out with the rest of the garbage? Just something to ponder. There are other things I can wonder about why. Like this thing with Snowden.     OK Russia is letting him stay there for a year. OK he did expose government secrets about how they spy on allot of people. (Hi guys, how's it going?) But what government doesn't do that? No matter how free you are there is always someone watching you. It's, in my opinion, comes from a world that is to intercon
