Turkey Invasion

Image
This morning I was getting my tea ready when I looked out the window and this is what I saw. They walked around the yard. Even the front yard where our outside dog is. I wanted to get a picture of them walking right by his doghouse but I couldn't get a good shot. I was ready for him to come charging out of his house, but all he did was when they were out his reach was poke his nose out of his house and watch them walk away. I had to be very careful in the house at this time because Fawn was wondering what I was looking at. If she would have seen them there would have been a whole lot of barking, whining, yipping and" Shhhh be quiet!!" going on. Then my husband would have come out of the bedroom yelling trying to tell me to keep her quiet. But that didn't happen. Peace remained in the household. As far as I could tell these were both hens, no beards. I just wonder if they have any eggs somewhere close by. I would love to see a bunch of babies running around. If there i

The Moth

On Sunday afternoon my husband was going to finish up the front deck, it just needs to be stained now, he called me to come outside he had to show me something. Once I got outside he told me to look on the other side of the bush on the front of the deck. This is what I saw. It stayed there all day. It rained off and on all afternoon but it never moved. It was gone the next day. Someone at work told me it's called a Cecropia moth. I'm not sure if this is spelled right. I showed it to my oldest one when she got out of bed that day and all she could say is "I hate bugs." and went back into the house. I seen another one a number of years ago. In this same tree at the top a pair of small birds has a nest with babies in it. They were not to happy with my husband while he was working on the deck. Thought for the day: "Remember, e-mail communication is about as secure as skywriting."

Sunday morning with Me

It's Sunday morning. I was not in the mood for writing yesterday so I'm making up for it today. Yesterday I went for a nice quiet walk alone. I walked maybe about 2 miles . I enjoy that time of the morning when the sky is so blue and no one else is really out and about. My brother-in-law is but he's busy with his farm work. I get to listen to all the birds singing and watch all the different animals that are out and about. I sometimes see deer but not yesterday. I did earlier in the week. I kinda sorta hit a deer with my car. I was going down the road to go see how my husband was doing baling hay. I was headed to town to do bring a few props I found to the theater, we are doing the play A Year with Frog and Toad. I'm stage manager again. Anyway the road I was taking to head to town is a part of the road I don't take to town very often when I'm driving. I was not going to fast when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw brown out the drivers side windo

The weekend thoughts

Another Saturday Morning. I'm writing this a little later in the morning then usual because for some reason everyone else was up at the same time I was. My oldest daughter, who just turned 23 yesterday, was still up. She's sleeping now and won't be up until 5 or 6 tonight. My husband got up when Fawn started barking and getting excited when the neighbors dog went running through the back yard. When she sees something in the yard that she thinks should not be there she becomes wild and will not listen to anyone to be quiet. She will running around the house barking, whining, growling and wanting outside so she can bark more. Then she will want inside so she can see on the other side of the house to see if she can see whatever got her so excited to begin with. Anyway my husband is sleeping on the couch right now and Fawn is sleeping in the chair. My other daughter is still sleeping or at least in her room. She did let Maggie out of her room this morning to add to the excitem

Lilacs in Bloom

Image
Another Saturday morning and all is quiet for the moment. Right now the sun is shinning and there is a slight breeze. Yesterday was a different story. When I was driving to work it started raining very hard as I went through town. I could hardly see where I was going. Once at work I sat in my car for about 10 minutes as always, by then it had stopped. But when I got out of work it was very windy. The flag at work was straight out not drooping at any second. It was like that most of the afternoon. At least it didn't rain here any more. It's suppose to have a chance a rain most of the weekend and be in the high 70's close to 80. I like those temps. The other day I took some pictures , here is my lilac bush: I love the smell of lilacs. The only bad thing is they only last a couple of weeks. Right now it's at full bloom. This is the front deck we are working on. It has a little way to go yet, but once it's finished I plan on hanging a few plants up, a wind chime and a
