To feed Wildlife Or not to feed wild life

Image
First bear sighting of the year You see that black spot between the two trees? Well that is a bear that was in a neighbors field Sunday night. I'm almost sure that Saturday morning there was one that was so close to our place that it spooked the horses causing them to go through the fence and run down the road to a neighbors field. Now this one is just a small one and according to what I've heard one of the people in the neighborhood has bear bait on his land. He is said to have commented  that he had his trail camera set up near the bait and has gotten pictures of 16 different bear. In my book that is to many bear for our neighborhood. We are only about three mile out of town and there are allot of dwellings in this area.  I enjoy wildlife just as much as everyone else but, I really don't think they should be feed in that way in an area that has as many people as we have. If you are going to bait something like bear it should be done in a remote area of forest far away fro...

I could say something......

I'm having a very quiet night. Maybe a little too quiet. Nothing really worth noting happened around me today. Work was the same as usual. People still like to cause you to feel unsure about everything. I should say something that is interesting but what................... I could comment on the oil, but I think there is enough being said about that. Nothing I can say would be any different from what has been said already. Just the blame game will be kicking it into high gear now that the oil is starting to hit shorelines. I could say something about politics but, it don't really matter. The same old kind of people are always in charge. They may try to sound different but in the long run nothing is ever done any different. Who can grease who's palm the most. It don't matter what you call yourself, your still someone who only wants to sit behind a desk and try to tell people like me how things for me should be, while they go to parties where people will stroke the...

Pondering this, that and other things

Here it is 5:16 in the am. I wanted to stay in bed longer except the husband had his buzz saw going and would not shut it off. I decided to check things out on line for awhile. I now have my new computer so I've been checking it out. I do have a web cam but I'm not to sure how I will use it, for sure. But hopefully once I'm comfortable with it I will use it from time to time to post something here. In other news it looks like winter outside, again. It should be melted by this afternoon, I hope. It looks like the community theater will be finally putting on a play. It's called Shout! A Mod Musical. I will be back stage as I don't sing very good at all. I hope they can make a go of it or this just might be the last show ever. If that happens I will have to find something else to get involved in, so every once in awhile I can break up my very boring life. Someone said I should write a play based on the letters that were sent to my grandpa. I have thought about...

The Mighty Hunter and his Prize

Image
Well, the mighty was finally successful. After being teased by a number of different turkeys since Wednesday, he finally got his prize. It weighted about 32 pounds with a beard of about 11 inches long. This is the hardest he had to work to get a turkey since he started turkey hunting. He got it Sunday morning.

Pondering oil and other things

It's another quiet Sunday morning. The husband is out trying to get a turkey. It's his last day to get one. So far the turkeys are teasing him. Every time he comes back he tells me all the tales of all the tom turkeys that he saw at the last minute or should I say saw him before he saw them. It's been a tall turkey tale weekend. The funny part is this morning when I let the dog out I heard a turkey gobbling behind the house. I guess when he gets home I'll have to ask him it he heard any turkeys and then tell him I did and it sounded very close. And it was not one of ours. Well that's enough turkey talk there are allot of things that happen this week that I should comment on. Like the oil that is gushing in the gulf. Now that's a mess. So many questions and not enough solutions. Will this stop the attempts at getting oil from the ocean? Will this make oil companies make sure they have better safety measures? Well this give the people who are always looking for...

A letter to Howard

Image
I decided it was time to start posting some of the old letters that were sent to my grandpa in 1919 and 1920's. I decided to post this one because I was able to match it with one of the old pictures that I have . On the back is written Chicago girls. One of girls is Theresa Billy Lambert. Another girl is Kathrine Shirley Clary. Both of these girls wrote to my Grandpa starting in 1919 to about 1924. The others in the picture are two sisters and a brother to Theresa. I'm not sure exactly how old they were in this picture but I think they might have been 17 or 18. So here is the letter that was sent on Oct 19, 1919: Dear Howard:       I am answering your letter which I received several days ago. Just as usual, Chicago is still exciting as ever. It is pretty cold out here, how is the weather out there? Will you please make or send me a few of those pictures we had taken on the small pile of hay that time. You know where Kathryn, my sisters, my brother and mysel...

Pondering the Volcano and other things

It's another quiet Sunday morning here and I am up a little later then last time. It's already light out. I don't see the sun itself yet but it won't be long. I have been watching the news about the volcano that's spewing ash all over Europe. What a mess. I wonder how long it will doing that? I think last time it spewed it did it for 13 months. Can you imagine it spewing for over a year disrupting air travel? All the things that will get messed up. To sum it up, the whole world economy. No planes in the sky. People will have to travel by bus or boat or car. The weather will get more messed up. Breathing for some people, if not most people, will be harder. We will be dusting ash off everything. I think some people think that we as humans should be able to find a way to control it. What I mean is that there will be people complaining to governments about it making it sound like they should stop it.Well, they will know it's not possible to stop a volcano from eru...
