Well another month has gone by. So far this year for me is just flying by.
I have started my next big thing.
The husband and I have started hiking the Ice Age Trail.
For those of you who don't know what it is I'll tell you.
It's a trail that goes through Wisconsin. It's over 1100 miles long. it's still a work in progress. There about 620 miles of it complete for hiking. The rest is connecting roads.
It starts on the west side of the state by St. Croix Falls and ends up by Sturgeon Bay.
For me I'm started in the middle close to home and I will work my way west. After I get the done I will come back to where we started and then start going east and south. and then north.
It will take me years to do it because I can only do weekend day hikes right now, weather permitting that is.
We have done a total of 5 hikes so far.
Right now is a good time because it has not been hot or buggy so far but I think that is about to change.
If we keep the pace we have been doing we will be able get at least Taylor county done quicker then we thought. After that the time between hikes will get longer and have to be planned more.
I do suggest that if you enjoy the out doors that you do something like this.
You never know what you will see.
We have seen two eagles nest so far. Three snakes. The husband hates snakes. I think they are very interesting and good to have a round. They do eat bugs and other things too.
It is very good exercise. Over hill and over dale. Some trails are flatter, others are very hilly.
The last hike we did we went 10.91 miles.

As for a project, I have not been working on it. I'm kind of preoccupied with hiking but I'll try to get in the mood soon.

As for pondering things,
The world is a mess and getting messier by the day.
When you a middle schooler leading things it's going to stay very immature.
What I mean by middle schooler is the language he uses. Not very grown up if you ask me.

Well my time is short today. I will try to write more soon. Maybe in a day or two depending on other things.

Jean Viken Cold Case

When I first started this blog one of the first things I wrote about was the murder of a local woman. She disappeared Jan 29th 2008 on one of the coldest days of that month. Her body was found I think in May of that year. She had been shot. Her van was found not long after she went missing up north. She was the mother of 4 young children and was going through a divorce at the time. Well here it is 2 years later and nothing has happened to try and find the person or persons responsible for her death. Why? I'm sure the whoever was responsible was really not that smart. Jean Viken update and other local things.

This past week Channel 7 has been doing stories on the cold case of Jean Viken.I did see one of them. In it the police said they know who did it but they are waiting for someone to come forward. But no matter what four young children will be without their mother for the rest of their lives because someone decided to end her life out of the meanness of their heart. Here is the story I found on the internet: Jean Viken's friends and family remember her as a loving mother of four young kids, a devoted daughter and sister. But nearly four years after her murder, a dark cloud hangs over Jean's memory, as they continue to search for answers. Pondering Japan's Earthquake

The earthquake in Japan is just another wake up call for us. It is so far the largest disaster we are dealing with right now. And with all those nuclear power plants having problems there, it will get a whole lot worse.  The earth is talking to us. Telling us the big change is upon us. Instead of fighting wars in other countries we should be preparing our people for this big change that will change our home, planet Earth, in a way that will make life allot more difficult to survive.  Japan had prepared for this kind of event to a point, but this kind of event to this degree is never fool proof.  My heart does go out to all those who are living through this right now.  I will give one prediction for the near future that some might say makes me sound like a crack pot but it is always a possibility.  Here it is: With all the things happening right now natural disasters and political unrest big changes are inevitable.
